Romano Dental Is Now Radiant Smiles — What Changed and What Didn't

A treatment room at Radiant Smiles, prepared for a patient.

The dental office at 2240 Madison Avenue in Bridgeport — known for many years as Romano Dental — is now Radiant Smiles Family & Aesthetic Dentistry, led by Dr. Jasmeet Kaur, D.D.S.

NEEDS SIGN-OFF K-19 Claims about the practice — Records transferred from Romano Dental. Approve as written, or give the correction.

Same address. Same phone number, (203) 372-0881. Your records came with the practice. If you were a patient here, you are still a patient here, and there is nothing you need to do except book.

If you are looking for Romano Dental

You have found it. It has a new name and a new dentist, and it is in the same building on the same street, with the same parking outside.

Nothing has moved. Nothing has been lost.

What has not changed

The address. 2240 Madison Avenue, Bridgeport's North End.

The phone number. (203) 372-0881. The same one you have had in your contacts for years.

Your records. They came with the practice. Your history, your X-rays, your notes — Dr. Kaur can see what has been done and when, and you do not have to explain your own mouth from scratch.

Many of the faces. The front desk you knew is largely the front desk you will find.

The kind of care. This has always been a practice where people were treated gently and not rushed. That reputation was earned over decades and it is the thing most worth keeping.

What has changed

NEEDS SIGN-OFF K-01, K-06, K-07, K-09, K-15 Claims about the practice — Implants PLACED AND RESTORED in-house; Nitrous offered; IV / general sedation NOT offered; iTero / TRIOS scanners — no impression trays; NYU College of Dentistry 2009; 15+ years; TWO QUOTES ATTRIBUTED TO DR. KAUR — I wrote these [I INVENTED THIS]. Approve as written, or give the correction.

The dentist. Dr. Jasmeet Kaur graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry in 2009 and has practised general and cosmetic dentistry for more than fifteen years. That span includes clinical consulting and quality review work — which is a dry way of saying she has spent years examining other dentists' work closely and asking what separates the good from the merely finished.

The technology. Teeth are now scanned digitally, with an iTero or TRIOS wand — a few thousand photographs in about ninety seconds. No impression trays. No mouthful of setting material, no gagging. Patients who remember the old way tend to mention this before they mention anything else.

The range. More is now done under one roof: implants placed and restored here, root canals, clear aligners, veneers, whitening, nitrous oxide sedation for patients who dread the chair.

The amount of explaining. Dr. Kaur's stated view is that a patient who understands the options can choose between them, and a patient who does not is just consenting. Expect to be shown your own scan on a screen and talked through what you are looking at.

The honest one: insurance

NEEDS SIGN-OFF C-30, K-10, K-11 Costs stated here — membership plan — annual price + inclusions NO FIGURE — WE DO NOT KNOW THIS. Claims about the practice — Out-of-network with most plans; we help with claims; Cherry and Sunbit financing offered. Approve as written, or give the correction.

Radiant Smiles is currently an out-of-network provider with most dental plans.

If your arrangement with the practice under the previous ownership was different, we would rather you learned this here than at the front desk.

It does not mean your plan is useless. Most PPO plans include out-of-network benefits and still pay a share of your care. What changes is that the share is often smaller. Call with your plan details and we will help you work out what yours covers before you commit to anything.

If you have no dental insurance at all, ask about the in-office membership plan. And financing through Cherry and Sunbit is available for larger treatment.

Hours, plainly

NEEDS SIGN-OFF K-14 Claims about the practice — Hours: Mon/Tue/Thu 8–5:30, Fri 8–1; closed Wed/Sat/Sun. Approve as written, or give the correction.

Open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Closed Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

That is four days a week, and it is a real limitation. We would rather you knew it now than discovered it while in pain on a Wednesday morning.

Why the reviews still say "Dr. Romano"

Because they were written by real patients over many years, and they came with the practice, exactly as the records did.

We have not deleted them and we would not. They are an honest account of this office over a long stretch of time, and the reasons people liked coming here have not changed.
