The office is on Madison Avenue in Bridgeport's North End, a few minutes south of the Trumbull line and a short drive from Stratford, Fairfield and Shelton.

There is parking at the building. You will not be circling the block, feeding a meter, or walking two streets in the rain with a five-year-old. It is a small thing that stops being small the day you are running late.

What happens at a first visit

Nothing you have not agreed to.

A first visit is an exam, X-rays if you need them, and a conversation. Dr. Kaur looks at everything — teeth, gums, bite, old work that may be failing quietly — and then tells you what she sees, in plain words, on a screen you can look at yourself. If something needs doing, you will hear what it is, what it costs, what happens if you leave it, and which option she would choose if it were her own family.

You are not obliged to book anything that day. A patient who understands the options can choose between them. A patient who does not is just consenting.

If it has been years since your last visit, say so when you call. It changes nothing about how you will be treated, and it lets us give you a longer appointment instead of a rushed one.

Cost and insurance — the honest version

Radiant Smiles is currently an out-of-network provider with most dental plans. We would rather you read that here than discover it at the front desk.

It is less bad than it sounds, and here is what it actually means:

• Many plans still pay. A large number of dental plans include out-of-network benefits that cover a real share of your care. Call us with your plan details and we will help you work out what yours covers before you commit to anything.
• If you have no dental insurance at all, ask about our in-office membership plan. It is built for exactly this situation and it is not the same thing as insurance — it is a straightforward annual arrangement that brings the cost of routine care down.
• Financing is available through Cherry and Sunbit, and for some cases we can arrange in-office financing directly.

If cost is the reason you have been putting off a visit, tell us on the phone. It is a conversation we have every week, and it is a much better conversation to have before treatment than after it.

We are open four days a week. If you are in pain on a day we are closed, still call (203) 372-0881 — the message tells you what to do, and there is guidance for the common emergencies on our emergency dentist page. Do not sit on a broken tooth until Thursday because the office was shut on Wednesday.
